Backpacker's Remorse 1 - Share a bathroom...what?!?!

I like
Jeanna would have liked it here as a first stop

She would even have enjoyed it here

Grin and bear it. Must be a mistake
Instead we ended up here

To her credit she was able to endure. Truthfully though once you got past the cemetery in the backyard this was actually quite a pleasant getaway before the many days of bus rides began. She even managed a smile in the end.

Budget Review 1 - This is not a crisis, only a leak...

Money seems to be slipping away from some unknown location. Must plug that gap before we curtail this adventure.

NZ

Was originally scheduled to fly into Christchurch today, That obviously couldn't happen so after much detour and option juggling and expected delays, we are at Picton instead to get around the south island

Dinner and sunset

no idea what this dancing was about but any excuse to stand and watch the scantily clad before sunset dinner

Adelaide

Drove further than expected so made it to the Adelaide Hills ahead of schedule.
had a look, had a walk, then down into the city after checking out the wildlife reserve.
Finally some kangaroos in a more natural habitat than the flattened ones at the side of the
road. Emus and Tasmanian Devils also. Saw some hitchhikers too but I was given specific instructions by the navigator to
stay the course.

The 12 Apostles

Loved it but it may be one of the great tourist tricks being perpetrated today. Since these
limestone formations rise and fall with the bashing of the waves it means some days you can
have 9 apostles sometimes 11, but you're always guaranteed a new disciple forming somewhere nearby. Religion for the masses.

Decided the helicopter ride was the best way to see this with the low fly option. Thankfully
all at half price since they were trying to get everyone back before the storm.

Apollo bay outward bound to ??????

koalas aplenty. slow going if you have to drive and stare upwards on a narrow two lane
stretch. Also made it to the lighthouse which is actually just a lookout. Seems like a house with a light in it to me.

Lorne for brekkie

guess this is where the cool kids with a little bit of change like to be. Jeanna renews
her love affair with the impressive Ford youth. Is it a car, is it a truck?

Somewheres along the Great Ocean Road

Here a stop there a curve, everywhere a winding turn. Quite a test for the easily car sick

but well worth it.

Geelong

Took the long scenic route to get there whereby you drive past and make it all the way
to the next town Tourquay and have to turn around. Upside is at least we knew the heading for the next day.
In fairness we were racing ahead of some serious pull-to-the-side-of-the-road-and-stop rain
which we didn't want to get caught in.

St. Kilda's detour

Quick and painless. Apparently because the coffee here is soooo good we had to make a stop
in a cafe and fake it like proper locals. I'm not a connoisseur so saying "coffee is coffee"
was only going to get me in trouble and Jeanna riled up. Applied the infamous shut up manoeuvre here
for the sake of self preservation

Micro Mini Australia Driving Tour

28 hours after we started with two hops and a stop by the immigration officers (one of several)
we made it to Melbourne. Rented a car and decided J would navigate and L would drive. At least
it started out well enough :-)

There was art
architecture
and such
